Question: “God placed me in the home where He knew I would be abused. He knew what was going to happen. Why then does He leave me with homosexual feelings to overcome?”
Reply: My friend, you and I must have had the same childhood, for I, too, had the very same question for most of my life. When I finally got to the place where I stopped blaming Him, I was able to hear His answer which was there all along.
God’s word to you, as it was to me, through Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee…”
God did not place you in the home where He knew you would be abused, though He did know what was going to happen. He allowed you to be born in spite of the parents who conceived you, loving you and being hurt along with you as Satan and sin played its hand against you. But He allowed you to be born, not because of the bad that He foresaw, but for the good thing He knew you could become if you would turn to Him as your Savior.
Should you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior from sin, through you the testimony can be given of God’s unconditional love towards every one of His children, despite circumstances, genetics, environment, conditioning, and even their own poor judgment and bad choices and resulting sin and degradation. God not only loves you still, but He can and will save you personally from your life of sin and degradation. He is the Creator and the Re-Creator.
Those who are forgiven much, love much. People like you and me have the opportunity to reveal this love and power of God in a profound way that can make a serious impact on others who likewise feel hopeless and helpless.
You ask why God leaves you with homosexual feelings to overcome. Every child ever born is the product of generations of sinful parents, of inherited and created and cultivated tendencies to evil. Due to environmental circumstances beyond our own control, you and I were left with homosexual feelings to overcome, while someone else has other tendencies and feelings to overcome, just as evil, and just as overwhelming. But through the power of choice, which is yours, and the free gift of divine power known as grace, through Jesus Christ old things may pass away, and all things can become new, according to 2 Corinthians 5:17.
He will work within you to give you the desire and the ability to overcome. (Philippians 2:13) And to you, the overcomer, (for I know you, too, can be made whole…), He has made some beautiful promises:
“To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” (Revelation 2:7)
“He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death,” (eternal death) (Revelation 2:11) In other words, you are promised eternal life, together with Him.
“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” (Revelation 3:5) In the judgment, He will proudly claim you as His beloved child to God the Father in the presence of all the heavenly host. AMAZING!
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” (Revelation 3:21) Jesus, likewise, had to overcome inherited tendencies to evil. For He “was in all points tempted like as [you are, yet] without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:7” You are very dear to Him, and He wants you to be as His son through all eternity. That is a very special and dear relationship.
If you are still looking for “Mr. Right,” I give you JESUS…
All Power to you,
