Around the country for years now, homosexuals en masse have conducted Gay Pride Parades. I used to attend them every summer in Los Angeles. Thousands of homosexuals and friends and curious onlookers would line the streets of Hollywood Blvd. to watch the “proud” homosexuals put themselves on display in all their variant and deviant personas for the world to see. And in the year 2000, then president Bill Clinton actually declared the month of June to be Gay Pride Month!
But for many people, the question comes to mind, “Just what exactly are homosexuals proud of?”
The embarrassment, pain, confusion, frustration, and despair they cause their parents, spouses (if any), children (if any), & other family members? For bringing upon themselves the same? For the loneliness, helplessness, & hopelessness that so many of them experience daily? For the disease that is associated so closely, though not exclusively, with their lifestyle? For their freedom of choice to live in defiance and rejection of God’s plan for their lives, the very God who created them with the power of choice in the first place? For their bringing to an end a 6,000 year old line of seed?
Granted, there is much beauty, talent, creativity, education, intelligence, and ambition demonstrated among the gay community. However, an honest look at Homosexuality will reveal it to be a dead end street. The self-admiration, self-exaltation, self-gratification is but for a fleeting moment. “Woe to the crown of pride, …whose glorious beauty is a fading flower” (Isaiah 28:1)
Just think of all the great talents of our time, and the 1,000’s not so well known, that have died so prematurely with AIDS. The average life expectancy of the homosexual is a low forty something; about half that of the heterosexual. Homosexuality also tends to greatly diminish the reproduction of life. Just think, if all the world were homosexual, life would come to a screeching halt within one generation!
So what is gay pride all about? Pride of rebellion? Pride of defiance? Pride of separation from the will of their Creator God?
Perhaps we should ask, What is God’s view of “Pride,” of “Gay Pride”? (After all, it is He that holds in His hands our eternal destiny.)
Interestingly, it was pride (Gay Pride…?) that brought about the destruction of Sodom.
“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. (Ezekiel 16:49,50)
It was pride that drove Nebuchadnezzar to insanity.
“But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
“Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
(Daniel 5:20,2; 14:37)
It was pride that brought about the fall of Israel, mentioned above as the sister of Sodom.
“And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.” (Hosea 5:5)
It was pride that made a devil out of Lucifer, God’s highest created being, and that results in his ultimate destruction. (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:19)
Surely, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:19) And God warns very clearly in Malachi 4:1, “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
From the story in Luke of the Pharisee and the Publican we can learn that it is not the proud who find favor and mercy with God, but the humble. The proud will surely meet up with God’s justice. The humble will be justified by God’s grace and mercy.
Luke 18:10-14, “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
“And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
“I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.” (Proverbs 16:19)
In light of all this, we must remember, however, that God is love. (1 John 4:8) It is not His choice that His wayward children should be destroyed. Oh, No! “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) But He cannot and will not force the will.
Therefore He invites you, dear friend, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13,14)

Mark 7:20-23, “And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. AMEN! And God’s blessings upon you as you seek His will for your life.
